Packing for Cambodia can feel a little tricky — hot days, cultural sites, unexpected rains, and plenty of dusty backroads mean you’ll want to be prepared, but not overloaded. Whether you're staying at Treetop Bungalows or venturing further afield, this guide will help you pack smart so you’re comfortable, respectful, and ready for whatever your trip brings.

The Essentials

☀️ Lightweight, breathable clothing

Cambodia is hot and humid most of the year, so pack light cotton or moisture-wicking clothes. Loose-fitting clothes are great for airflow — and for keeping mosquitoes at bay.

👕 Temple-appropriate attire

Visiting temples like Angkor Wat requires modest dress — think shirts with sleeves and pants or skirts that cover your knees. A lightweight scarf or sarong can come in handy too.

👟 Comfortable footwear

You’ll likely do a lot of walking, whether you're exploring temples, markets, or dirt paths. A good pair of breathable walking shoes or sandals with grip is essential. Bonus: pack flip-flops for casual wear or showers.

🧴 Sunscreen & insect repellent

The sun can be strong and the bugs persistent. Bring a high-SPF sunscreen and a decent repellent — especially for evenings or jungle adventures.

💧Reusable water bottleStay hydrated! Most accommodations (like ours!) provide filtered water, so bringing a bottle you can refill helps reduce plastic waste and keeps you cool.

Extras You’ll Be Glad You Packed

  • Small backpack or day bag for tours and temple days

  • Quick-dry towel (especially if you’re heading to waterfalls or swimming spots)

  • Electronics: phone charger, power bank, universal adapter (Cambodia uses Type A, C, and G plugs)

  • Travel insurance info printed and stored digitally

  • Toiletries: most basics are available in Siem Reap, but sensitive skin products can be hard to find

What to Leave Behind

Heavy or flashy clothes: You won’t need jeans, heels, or anything too formal. Keep it simple and practical.

Hair dryers or bulky electronics: Most places don’t have strong enough power outlets for high-voltage items. And the heat dries your hair in no time!

Final Tip: Pack light, shop local!

Siem Reap has plenty of markets and shops if you forget something. Buying locally not only supports the community but gives you a fun excuse to explore.

Wherever your Cambodia adventure takes you, packing smart will set you up for a smoother, more enjoyable trip. And if you're staying with us at Treetop Bungalows, we’ve got space to spread out, hang clothes, and even do a bit of laundry if you’re here for a while.
